Determine Your Team’s Identity
Your logo will come to define what your team stands for. So it’s essential that before you start to design your logo, you’re clear about the message you want to convey to your players and your fans. Do you want to convey strength or be focused on the town or community you represent?
Play with Typography
The right font helps reflect your team’s personality and will help attract the right fan base. Many sports teams tend to go for all uppercase letters and a bold typeface that makes their logo stand out. It also makes it easy to read whether it’s being displayed on a jersey or a Megatron. Be sure to also put the team name front and center.
Pick Colors that Represent Your Team
The colors you choose to be included in your logo will be the basis for your team’s brand and appear on things like uniforms and merchandise. That’s why you need to be careful to choose colors that represent what message you want to convey about your team. Pick 1-2 colors and make sure to stay away from rival team colors.
Make it Memorable
Icons, shapes and images can make your logo and team instantly recognizable. Basketball, soccer, rugby, hockey, and other types of sports teams use their logo symbols as mascots and therefore pick animals that represent their team spirit. You can also go for abstract shapes that also convey your team’s strengths.
